Connecting people to God’s work

Do you remember the moment?  That moment of discovery when you realized you would never be the same? In an instant, God opened your eyes to the revelation of living your life for His Glory.

For me, it happened not only when I accepted Christ, but when I realized that my talent for problem solving in business could be used for God’s plan of reconciliation.

For Kenya, it was his role of sharing the gospel during a project.  “That experience was very powerful and life-changing as I obtained the boldness for the Lord that is with me today.  I had the privilege and responsibility to share how I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.”

For many others, it was the day they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

My role as the Communications/Logistics Manager for Athletes in Action’s (AIA) Global Sports Teams gives me (Rick) a small role that will contribute to over 30 missions projects each year.  These projects connect hundreds of college athletes and adults to a life-changing experience of sharing the gospel around the world.    What a privilege it is to use the gifting God has given me in His service.  Just as important is your role as a ministry partner.  Your gifts and prayers result in countless changed lives each year.  Together, we are a part of God’s plan for reconciliation.

Because of you ….

Because of you, because of Him, we celebrate together all God has accomplished this year.

Karen and I want to thank you for allowing us to be one of your partners in ministry in 2011.  Sometimes it’s hard to remember we are not alone in our service and worship to our Lord.  It’s incredible to consider how much God has accomplished through the collective ministries of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU), let alone the entire body of Christ.

Athletes in Action’s Global Sports group conducted ministry operations in 50 of those 191 countries mentioned in the video.  As a result, your partnership with us and AIA helped to change many of the lives touched by Campus Crusade ministries in 2011.

Karen and I are looking forward to partnering with you again in 2012.  If you are not partnering with us and would like to make a difference in 2012 by contributing to this ministry, go to our Eternal Investments page and ask the Lord how you could be involved.

We would love to hear about how you have joined the Lord in serving Him in 2011.  It would be an encouragement to all, please leave a comment.

God’s Grace / Our October Newsletter

We are finding what sustains us today is God’s grace.  We are realizing how ungracious we are, but the love of Christ is the key to seeing the truth.  Jesus gave us life because He loved us.  (1 John 3:1)  He was kind and gave to us freely. (Eph 2:1-7)  As we live life, we also pick up burdens, but Jesus said, “Come to me and I will give your rest. “ From the fullness of His grace Jesus gives us one blessing after another.  (John 1:16) Grace, then, brings dignity to life and removes the shame that paralyzes us. (Romans 5)

Out of the Mouths of our Babies

As Karen hands Aaron the educational back of a cereal box at breakfast, Aaron:  “Oh no you don’t, I see how it is, I see what you’re up to.  I’m going to LEARN something.”

You are a Global Investor!

Yes, your portfolio is extensive.  AIA’s Global US team fielded 40 projects around the world in 2011.   These projects are not only changing the lives of people in these countries, but also the lives of college athletes and the adult volunteers who staff them.  Through this strategy, AIA has developed a ministry presence in 96 countries!  The philospohy of win, build, and send has resulted in 57 countries being led by nationals.

We recently spoke with Ben T., AIA’s International/Global Director.  He is extremely excited about the opportunities AIA has globally.  By 2020, AIA’s goal is to see a Christ follower on every team, in every sport, in every nation.  We don’t know how the world itself will change, but sports has the power to change the world, as Nelson Mandela said (see About AIA).  When it’s coupled with the life changing message of Jesus, the world will be transformed.  “It’s a privilege to serve the Global Family of AIA as we trust God for what only He can do.  We are so thankful to have Rick and Karen join us.  They will be a tremendous blessing to the ministry around the world!”

Can you imagine the eternal return on our investment?
